holiday ready with Ann Taylor

for the love of tweed.

gearing up for the holidays with @AnnTaylor today! but letโ€™s start this post off with a little gratitude, shall we? i have wanted to work with Ann Taylor for as long as iโ€™ve been blogging. iโ€™ve tried to knock on this door for so long it feels like. BUT life works in mysterious ways sometimes. i always live by the notion that if itโ€™s not a hell yes, itโ€™s a hell no. itโ€™s kinda an extreme way to live life actually but iโ€™ve come to learn that the best decisions both in business and in life where i applied this thought process yielded the best results that i was most proud of. when Ann Taylor reached out to me to host the re-grand opening of the @anntaylor_arboretummarket in my own cityโ€ฆ it was an immediate #HELLYES. even though i knew i was going out of my comfort zone โ€” but hey, itโ€™s all about pushing boundaries amirite?! in the end, it was a fantastic event and an experience i will never forget. i feel so grateful to be able to get to do something like this and know that this is just the beginning. i donโ€™t do this enough but i gotta give myself credit for the hard work iโ€™ve put into this business. anyways, a sappy start but THANK YOU for following along this journey, itโ€™s because you of that i get to do these things so i cannot thank you enough!

i digress. letโ€™s talk tweed. i LOVE tweed. itโ€™s one of those fabrics that scream FALL and uber CLASSY. right up there with brooches and pearls (and you know i love me some brooches. yep, iโ€™m an old lady!). whatโ€™s great about tweed is the fabric also adds texture to any outfit. here iโ€™m wearing a one piece dress, but when you pair a tweed skirt or jacket with a blouse or sweater the tweed always becomes the โ€œcenterpieceโ€ (if you will). what i love about this dress is the metallic-ness of the tweed in a blue, magenta, and gold color. itโ€™s actually a very unique tweed piece that is going right into my closet for a holiday party! you cannot complete a holiday outfit with some BLING/SPARKLE so i went with a crystal statement necklace and even a pearl statement necklace will work too! here iโ€™m wearing my usual size 2 in the dress, but i think their sizes have gotten larger and i could easily size down and wear a 0 (never happens). in these photos i actually have it binder clipped in the back to make it look more fitted. i didnโ€™t have time to get it alteredโ€ฆ so when it came time for the eventโ€ฆ at the 13th hour i found a glittery waist belt in my closet to cinch it and voila! love how it always works out! but do size down in all their pieces. i canโ€™t wait to share the rest of the dresses that were sent to me including the: speckled ponte flounce sheath dress and the seamed ponte flare dress (super effortless). i also walked away with more Ann Taylor goodies from the re-grand opening and canโ€™t wait to style them (after i go to costco and buy more hangers.. haha not kidding though LOL #fashionbloggerproblems).

side ramblings: LIFE is CRAZY. in such a good way. i was talking to a friend of mine about daily happenings in my life and my friend turned to me and said, โ€œthere are peaks and valleys of life and girl, youโ€™re standing on a mountain top!โ€ i blurted out laughing and nodded my head in agreement. anyways, i just needed to take a moment to document how grateful i feel and how iโ€™m overwhelmed with happiness & joy. quite frankly, i deserve it. and with Thanksgiving around the corner, the timing couldnโ€™t be better. hope yโ€™all enjoy your Thanksgiving with family and friends and iโ€™ll see yโ€™all next time! xx

an austin blogger holiday

cue the christmas music! (or play it below).

happy holidays!

i know it feels a tad early to be thinking of holiday stuff. but not really! this month is going to FLY by, so i thought it would be best to share this holiday shoot that i was so graciously invited to be apart of. these gals have become good friends to me and i am pretty blessed to have cultivated so many good friendships over the past year. #grateful

last year, i went with the classic holiday red. this year, i decided on the next christmas color... GREEN, but more of a hunter green! it's not a color i wear often but gosh, i think i should, especially hunter green. i picked out a lace off the shoulder dress with a classy length. it's actually a one-piece dress and the bottom is a little fuller than i thought it would be but it ended up looking very pretty! i'd say the only thing this dress is missing is pockets. the ivory earrings went perfectly with the gold clutch & dark nails. altogether i say this was a huge win, ESP since my dress arrived the day before (gotta love that ASOS 2-day shipping)! also, this gold clutch gets so much wear, it's def a staple for the holidays and any occasion (you can even see me wearing it in last year's photos)!

side ramblings: it's december.. which means... it's #BIRTHDAYMONTH! (insert happy dance).

nyfw part 1 in maggy london

new york, new york. i miss thee.

writing this post has me missing NYC like crazy. there is no doubt NYC is one of my favorite places to travel to and i have to make it out there every couple of years. New York Fashion Week (NYFW) has always been a bucket list for me, even before i started blogging three years ago (yikes!!, time flies). 2017 was the year to make it happen! i booked the flight very early this year not really knowing what to expect or what i was doing. i just knew i needed to go do it! as a first-timer, it was an amazing experience that i'm so grateful for and hope to be back next fall!

in general, i feel like NYFW is difficult to navigate regardless of your stats. it's overwhelming. on top of it being in a city that never sleeps, there is constant stimulation/hustle & bustle around every corner -- always something to do, see, or eat. therefore, i knew i was gonna be alright if i didn't get into many events! i really didn't have time to pitch or really plan NYFW due to the new house (which by the way... has sucked all my "free time!!" but i ain't complaining). i kinda winged it and everything happened last minute. outfits were packed the night before, and it occured to me that i really didn't have anything new to wear as all my purchases have gone towards #homeownership type-stuff. and to be honest, there's probably a good chance someone else is wearing it if it is semi-new. pro-tip: mix old with new (more on that in part 2; #comingsoon).

either way, as the slogan goes, it all works out and thank goodness for this Maggy London dress!! the navy is very vibrant in a classy way & the lace just adds more elegance. basically, where the trendy cold shoulder meets elegance & hugs you in the right places.

despite the fashion, outfits, and shows, the best part was getting to meet the gals i support on instagram. to finally put a face to a name (or is it handle?! haha) in REAL LIFE. that made my trip!

day 1 // September 8, 2017
this Maggy London dress was worn the day i arrived in NYC. took a taxi to the hotel. then hit the ground running with a photoshoot with the amazing Angie Garcia, whom i have always wanted to shoot with! let's just say these street-style shots totally pushed my comfort zone in terms of the amount of people, cars.. etc..! yikes... i headed to the @stylecollective party where i was able to meet the founder and my friend, @annie_spano! i joined Style Collective when i first started blogging and have made some awesome friends such as... @fashionablyfitjess who was my PIC that night and of course, we had to end the night with some ramen!

now it appears that i am blabbing on and on so the rest of the trip will be shared in another post (part 2 and it'll probably be lengthy!!), it included parties, shows, meetings etc..! hope you have an amazing week & thanks for stopping by! stay tuned xx

holiday dresses

today i'm talking about holiday dresses! holiday attire = lace. metallics. glitter. sequins. tulle. velvet. feathers. (all in moderation, and not all together... of course).

looking for THE holiday dress for THAT party? i got ya covered. i searched high and low for these below. they range from different colors, textures, styles, and cuts.

my picks:

01 | ASOS True Decadence jacquard midi dress in rose gold -- a "v" cut in the front and back in rose gold! what?! again, a midi length is always a good choice. this is a great option for a fancy date night, and perhaps a play.

02 | Eliza J dot mesh bodice fit & flare dress in black -- i like all things that are 3/4 sleeve. even dresses! somehow, this dress has hostess written all over it. feel comfortable entertaining, mixing drinks, putting final touches on your appetizers in this cute little thing! and it has pockets, which is basically an automatic buy.
03 | LuLu's line and dot monroe sequin maxi dress in black -- i don't own a sequin dress, but if i were to own one, this would be it! it is gorgeous, and um... you can do the angelina jolie leg pose with this... yessss! i can see this as a new year's eve party dress.
04 | Taylor Dresses lace sheath dress in scarlet -- the red lace dress is a great elegant option for the holidays. while i love the Adrianna Papell lace dress, this one has a dainty bow on the waist making it a little different. work party appropriate.
05 | LOFT leopard jacquard flare dress in hilltop green -- i can see this with black tights and some heels or even booties for a casual look.
